SEO Case Study | Growing Candi Services to 700+ Organic Clicks in 3 Months

Overview
Candi Services is an education-focused website providing information about Nigerian universities, polytechnics, courses, school fees, admission requirements and other education-related topics.
I worked on the website’s organic search visibility by focusing on search-intent-driven content, keyword targeting, topical relevance and on-page SEO. The results recorded in Google Search Console between 23 June and 15 September 2026 show that the website generated:
- 706 Google Search clicks
- 39,681 impressions
- 1.78% overall CTR
- Average search position of approximately 6.2
- 677 clicks from users in Nigeria
- 662 clicks from mobile users
The data also shows that several individual pages achieved average positions within Google’s top 10, with some queries ranking in positions 1–3.
The Challenge
The objective was to increase Candi Services’ visibility for searches related to education in Nigeria, particularly searches around:
- Nigerian universities
- Nigerian polytechnics
- nursing
- medical laboratory science
- public health
- school fees
- admission requirements
- courses offered by Nigerian institutions
- university and polytechnic cut-off marks
Rather than targeting broad, highly competitive keywords alone, the strategy focused on identifying specific questions and searches made by prospective Nigerian students and creating content that directly addressed those search intents.
This approach allowed the website to build visibility across a broad group of related education topics.
The SEO Strategy
1. Search-intent-focused content
Content was created around specific searches students are likely to make before choosing a school or course.
Examples include:
- schools offering Medical Laboratory Science
- polytechnics offering Public Health
- Nigerian university school fees
- nursing school fees
- federal polytechnic school fees
- university/polytechnic cut-off marks
- medical courses offered by specific institutions
This created opportunities to rank for both informational and highly specific long-tail searches.
2. Building topical relevance
Instead of treating each article as an isolated piece of content, the site developed content around closely related education topics.
For example, Medical Laboratory Science content targets searches around:
- universities offering Medical Laboratory Science
- best schools for Medical Laboratory Science
- Medical Laboratory Science courses
- whether Medical Laboratory Science is a good course
Likewise, nursing and polytechnic content addresses related searches around fees, courses, schools and admission information.
This helped establish stronger topical relevance around Nigerian education.
3. Targeting long-tail keywords
A major component of the strategy was targeting specific searches rather than relying exclusively on broad keywords.
The Search Console data demonstrates this clearly.
For example:
“list of polytechnic that offer public health in nigeria”
- 55 impressions
- 9 clicks
- 16.36% CTR
- Average position: 1.85
Another query:
“polytechnic that offer public health in nigeria”
- 42 impressions
- 6 clicks
- 14.29% CTR
- Average position: 2.43
These are strong examples of highly relevant long-tail searches producing top-ranking visibility.
Results
Between 23 June and 15 September 2026, Google Search Console recorded:
| Metric | Result |
|---|---|
| Organic clicks | 706 |
| Impressions | 39,681 |
| CTR | 1.78% |
| Average position | ~6.2 |
| Nigeria clicks | 677 |
| Mobile clicks | 662 |
The site reached its highest recorded daily click count during the period on 26 August 2026, when it received 21 organic clicks and more than 1,000 impressions in a single day.
The final 14 days represented approximately 199 clicks and 10,655 impressions, showing that search visibility was continuing to generate meaningful traffic toward the end of the reporting period.
Top-Performing Pages
Several pages were responsible for a substantial proportion of the site’s organic search performance.
1. Best Schools for Medical Laboratory Science in Nigeria
145 clicks
6,010 impressions
2.41% CTR
Average position: 5.84
This was the site’s highest-clicked page during the reporting period. The page demonstrates the value of creating comprehensive content around a specific educational decision students are researching.
2. Polytechnics Offering Public Health in Nigeria
117 clicks
2,765 impressions
4.23% CTR
Average position: 5.68
This page performed particularly well for highly specific Public Health searches. Some related queries reached average positions around 1–3, demonstrating strong visibility for the target search intent.
3. Updated School Fees of Nigerian Universities
107 clicks
10,436 impressions
1.03% CTR
Average position: 6.18
This page generated the highest number of impressions among the leading pages.
Its performance demonstrates an important SEO opportunity: pages can generate substantial search visibility even when their click-through rate remains relatively low. This creates an opportunity for further optimization of titles, meta descriptions and search intent alignment.
4. Nursing School Fees in Nigeria
75 clicks
8,487 impressions
0.88% CTR
Average position: 5.60
The page generated significant search visibility while maintaining an average position within the first page of Google. Its relatively low CTR compared with some other pages suggests that further optimization could potentially convert more existing impressions into clicks.
5. Federal Polytechnics School Fees List in Nigeria
73 clicks
4,451 impressions
1.64% CTR
Average position: 6.92
This page successfully captured searches around the cost of attending federal polytechnics in Nigeria.
Next SEO Opportunities
Based on the Search Console data, the next phase should focus less on simply publishing more articles and more on improving the pages that already demonstrate search demand.
Priority 1: Improve high-impression pages
The School Fees and Nursing pages have thousands of impressions but comparatively modest CTRs. These pages should be reviewed for:
- title optimization
- compelling SERP descriptions
- content freshness
- query coverage
- featured-snippet opportunities
- FAQ/search-intent alignment
Priority 2: Strengthen pages ranking positions 4–10
Pages already ranking on the first page provide an excellent optimization opportunity. Rather than starting from zero with entirely new keywords, the strategy can focus on improving pages that already have Google’s trust and visibility.
Priority 3: Expand successful topic clusters
The strong performance of Public Health and Medical Laboratory Science content suggests opportunities to create related supporting content around these topics. For example:
Public Health cluster
- schools offering Public Health
- Public Health school fees
- Public Health cut-off marks
- Public Health admission requirements
- HND/BSc Public Health options
- career opportunities in Public Health
Medical Laboratory Science cluster
- schools offering Medical Laboratory Science
- Medical Laboratory Science school fees
- admission requirements
- cut-off marks
- best institutions
- career opportunities
- professional registration
These pages can then be strategically interconnected through internal links.
My Role
I approached the project from a practical SEO perspective, using search intent and keyword opportunities to guide content development and optimization.
Rather than focusing solely on rankings, the strategy was designed to build a useful resource that can continue attracting organic search traffic from students researching educational opportunities in Nigeria.
